L'Echapper Belle ("The Beautiful Escape") is a breezy beachfront home on Bald Head Island, North Carolina, and it is headed straight to my all-time favorites list! Captured beautifully by photographers Gridley + Graves for a cover story in Beach Cottages magazine, the beach home is awash in soft greens and blues, paired with white and pale woods that keep everything feeling light and airy–perfect for the beach! The homeowner worked with Shelley Thompson of Cottage Chic to outfit much of the home, filling it was comfortable and casual pieces that exude cottage charm. (Those comfy striped chairs are my fav!) So in love with the galley kitchen too. Did you notice how the upper glass-front cabinets repeat the home's window design? Such a great detail! When this empty-nester couple decided it was past time to update their home and get the furniture they wanted to have, they turned to Heather Scott Home & Design–an interior design firm and boutique based in Austin, Texas! I love how they used cool and calm shades of blue, as well as cream and white, throughout the rooms (photographed here by Kimberly Davis) so the home flows and feels put together. I can't decide what I love more...the formal dining room with the patterned grasscloth wallcovering, or the family room with dramatic drapery panels and gorgeous built-ins! My day was made when I noticed the photos for the HGTV Smart Home 2016 were up on their site! Interior designer Tiffany Brooks did a fantastic job on the entire Raleigh, NC home, but one of my favorite spaces was this vibrant guest bedroom with tons of personality...and turquoise! It was love at first sight if only for the wallpaper, an eye-catching pattern from Eijffinger's Belle de Jour collection. The little nook in the corner is cute too...love how she used the curtains to define the space and make it a cozy room-within-a-room. No foolin', coastal style is my favorite. And San Diego-based AGK Design Studio is one of my favorite firms specializing in coastal modern interior design! They routinely leave me dreaming of the beach! How perfect is this oceanfront home they designed (photographed by Andrew Burns), filled with a breezy sand and sea palette?! Love every little thing about the kitchen, all of the chic coastal accessories, the mix of textures and finishes and the relaxed (and easy-to-clean!) slipcovers!
